Week 2- Caroline and Lucy

Rutherford house came second in the spirit day races. Next week is the Cross Country event. We made urban landscape pictures for art this week based on the NZ artist Graham Braddock. We went for a walk down Waiatarua Road and took photos in our community. Room 20/21 did their assembly this week about Communication and the Commonwealth games. Our mushrooms have been growing very very quickly and we harvested some to take to GTT and we have to spray them with water each day. We saw our buddy class today and did some reading. We have been reflecting on our writing this week and setting goals to carry on with this term. We have been learning about Te Whanau in maori and we learnt to introduce our family e.g. Ko Sebastian taku tungane.

Week 1- Whole Class

This week we did an artist study for some famous artists such as Van Gogh, Claude Monet, and Picasso. This week was Maori Language Week (Te Reo o te wiki). Today we had a singing assembly and some people from our class performed with the ukulele group. In our thinking books we did some creative drawing where we started with a line and we had to turn it into a picture. The Commonwealth Games started this week. It was our first week of Term 3 which means only 2 more terms as Year 4s. It is Miss Ellis' last day today which is very sad. Our cross country is coming up and we have been practicing. We wrote some persuasive letters to Mr Ayson telling him about our plans for the garden. We hope he agrees with our ideas.
